Forces from Wood

Tension (shown) bow, twist etc, etc, can make it hard for the feedworks to completely control the feed path, especially on the outfeed side. The wood must never be allowed to push sideways on thin sawbladesll

Forces from the Sawblades

Poor sidegrinding, excessive run-out, and some other sawblade imperfections can create sideways pressure on the sawblade.

Forces from the Machine

On many moulders and some ripsaws, the arbor is deliberately slightly out of square to the feed path, to help keep the wood against a fence. This is not a good idea with thin sawblades. On less expensive machines, the feed path may not be very straight. Imprecise arbors and flanges add run-out.
